May
Hull - This
was a rather unusual performance which involved us performing in
the Colourdome, a space which is entirely inflated and made up of
chambers and tubes which lead to a big see through dome where we
performed our Horses Brawl repertoire and some electro-acoustic
improvisations with Lawrence Casserly (computer & electronics
and Simon Deshorger flutes, shakahatchu and panpipes. We are performing
at Colourscape again in Barnstaple (June 1st) and Clapham Common
(September 13th), I highly recommend you check it out, it's a wild
sensory experience!
Bury Festival - Yesterday we performed a lunchtime concert
as part of the Bury Festival, it was in the Trinity Methodist Church
which has amazing acoustics, a fabulous space to perform in. Great
Festival too.
March & April
City of London Festival - We performed at St Anne and St
Agnes Church to a full and appreciative audience,
Norwich Arts Centre - All our lovely Norwich friends came
to this, again a full house.
Aust, Gloucestershire - This was an adventure from Norwich
to Bristol and sorry if it's getting boring but this church is fantastic
too, it has huge iron candleabras (?) which are suspended all the
way along the church and it's on a hill near the old severn bridge.
The Cut, Suffolk- We had a fab sound and lighting man who
made the whole concert extra special. Some familiar faces were there
and we plane to return next year with Philip.
February
We're fresh back from The Village Stage Tour, and very
pleased to say it was a sell out three nights in a row!
The hospitality of the promoters was excellent and we were supplied
with much cake, cromer crab sandwiches and spicy soup.
Hooray for rural touring. One of the best things is the intimacy
you get with the audience and they can be very relaxed on their
home ground, with a small amount of heckling and lots of good humour.
January
Two concerts this year so far, very different ones too!
A double bill with The Portico Quartet on Jan 9th and 19th at Loughton
Methodist Church - Music Club style concert - superb acoustics,
it was a full evening concert in the relatively newly built church
with pine roof from Sweden.
December
The past two months have been really busy with performances
in Brighton, London, Cambridgeshire and ending up in Norwich. We
did a concert at Norwich Puppet Theatre joined by special guest
Philip Thorby and also members of Norwich Fiddle School:
Sarah Cannell
Iklooshar Malara
Ferdia Stone-Davis
Helen Otter
Elly Wright
Now we're looking forward to doing some more composing
and getting ready for our concerts in the new year, but not without
the final gig of the year which is at Norwich Arts Centre on December
22nd, the Christmas Howlback Hum, where we will be joined on teatray
by Henry Walker (aka Ben Grizzly), Nicholas Melia - voice (Roberte,
Navigator) & Andre Bosman - fiddle (aka Hoofus).
Plans are also afoot to work with a select group of composers on
new works plus the making of a film to go with a track of 'Dindirin'.
So all very exciting... Merry Christmas.

We have new pictures in the Gallery, courtesy of the lovely
Martin Barber from BBC Norfolk. He also helped us with our backdrop
for the recent gig at the Arts Centre. It was a brilliant night!
with music from Rory McVicar and Steve Holmes & friends, and
a full house. We couldn't have asked for more, people even hopped
to the 14th century hopping dances and it was a seated gig...thankyou!
We're
writing new tunes so watch this space.....
14th December 2005
On saturday 10th December we were invited to perform
in the University of East Anglia's concert of Carl Orff's Carmina
Burana at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich.
We performed medieval song settings alongside the
UEA Symphony Orchestra and choir, with soloists, conducted by Howard
Williams.
1st December 2005
We just had 4 gigs: huddersfield, London, Halesworth
and Norwich..... thanks to everyone who came to see us. Especially
at The New Cut Arts Centre, in the snow and rain. It was a small
but perfectly formed audience and great fun. It was also Alex's
third big gig with us, doing an amazing job on our sound as usual.
The London one on tuesday was where we were performing at the press
launch of 'Canteen', a really cool new restaurant in Spitalfields.
They gave us cocktails and oysters and there were a few celebrities
for us to stare at. I recommend it!
24th October 2005

positive responses from the reviewers! Thanks again to everyone
who helped and to Alex for doing a mighty fine job on our sound
and Martin Barber from BBC Norfolk for being our MC.
